Longview ISD takes the privacy of our students seriously, especially when it comes to the collection, use, and protection of personal information within Special Education services. From the moment records are created to the day they are securely destroyed, we take careful steps to ensure that personally identifiable information remains confidential.
Federal law backs this up. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) gives parents specific rights regarding access to and control over their child's education records. If you'd like a clear, readable overview of those rights, the U.S. Department of Education offers a helpful summary here:

Whether you’re navigating the special education process for the first time or just want to know how your child’s records are handled behind the scenes, we’re here to help.
