Bilingual Oral Language Development
The Texas Administrative Code Section 89.1250, Required Summer School Programs requires districts to provide a summer school program for LEP students eligible for admission to Pre-K/Kindergarten at the beginning of the next school year.
Longview ISD operates a two semester system therefore L.I.S.D. offers the program for 120hrs on an abbreviated daily schedule for 20 days as set by the board of trustees.
3-5 Newcomers
Intensive Oral Language Acquisition Summer School
In grades 3-5 during the summer school session, LISD will offer an Intensive Oral Language Acquisition class. This class will focus instruction on language acquisition solely and will be available for students who are in their first 2-3 years of schooling in the United States. Students will be recommended for the class by their teachers based on observation and results from TELPAS, Rigby and other benchmarks that measure English Language levels.
6-8 Newcomers
