Student Transfers

Enrollment Information

If you plan to attend an LISD campus for the upcoming school year, please visit ChooseLISD.org, click on the “Apply to Your School” button, log in to the application portal, and complete the instructions on the screen.

Existing LISD Students with Accounts in Choose LISD

Families with existing accounts will log onto the portal using the username and password they created last year. Families should click on the “Update the Family Profile” tab and make any necessary changes before adding any new students and taking action for current students. Parents/Guardians may choose for their children to remain on their current campus by completing an intent to enroll application in the portal. Families may also elect to consider other options by completing a school choice application to apply to attend a new campus.

New LISD Students and Families without Accounts in Choose LISD

Families new to LISD will need to create an account in the application portal and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete an application for each student that will be enrolling.

Out-of-District (OOD) Transfers

State law requires that all OOD transfers must reapply each year to renew the transfer for the upcoming school year.  Please follow the instructions above to apply to return to LISD for the 2022-2023 school year.

Skyward Registration

<p>After choice applications have been approved, families will receive a notification to review the approval status and next steps by logging onto their Choose LISD account. Families not applying to attend a new campus for the upcoming school year will register in Skyward once the registration window opens.</p>

<p>Existing families will complete registration in Skyward Family Access by logging onto&nbsp;<a href="http://www.lisd.org/student">lisd.org/student</a>.&nbsp; Families new to LISD must first create a Skyward account and register their student(s) for the approved campus by logging onto&nbsp;<a href="http://www.lisd.org/skyenroll">lisd.org/skyenroll</a>&nbsp;to establish a new account in Skyward.</p>

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Choose LISD?

Choose LISD is the district’s new, one-stop application that families can use to apply to the LISD schools of their choice. Current LISD families can use the Choose LISD application to indicate their intent to return to their current school. Families can access the application at ChooseLISD.org.
 

When is the application open?

The Choose LISD application will open on May 20, 2021, and close on June 18, 2021. Families will be notified of their school assignments in early July.

Who needs to submit an application?

<p>For current students, families can use the application to indicate their “intent to return” to the same school next year. Families will need their student’s Skyward ID to link themselves to their students. Families can also apply to other LISD schools if they are interested in transferring to another school.</p>

<p>Families new to LISD must apply to attend an LISD school next year. Both in-district and out-of-district families can apply. All current or new out-of-district students who want to attend an LISD school must complete the full application. After creating an account in the enrollment portal, please follow the instructions as directed by the enrollment system.</p>
 

How many schools can a family list on their application?

They can apply to as many LISD schools as they are interested in, ranking them in your order of preference.
 

What is the difference between Choose LISD and Skyward?

Choose LISD is an application system that allows families to apply to all LISD schools in one place for grades K-12. Once families are notified of students’ school assignments, the Skyward online registration system will be used to complete registration information.

Enrollment Requirements
Age Requirements

State law requires that students reach the stated age on or before September 1 of the current school year to enroll in the following grades:

  • Pre-kindergarten–4 years
  • Kindergarten–5 years
  • First Grade–6 years

Students must also have an official copy of the birth certificate or other appropriate documentation. Information about enrollment is available at any campus, the district offices, or on the district’s website.

Student Health Immunization Requirements

Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (DTP or TD): Upon entry into kindergarten, students are required to have five doses of a diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis containing vaccine in any combination unless the fourth dose was received on or after the fourth birthday, in which case only four doses are required.  Students who started vaccinations after age seven must have three doses of TD. One dose of tetanus-diphtheria containing vaccine is required within the last 10 years. 

Poliomyelitis: Upon entry into kindergarten, students are required to have four doses of polio vaccine, one of which must have been received on or after the fourth birthday. Or, if the third dose was given on or after the fourth birthday, only three doses are required. If any combination of four doses of OPV and IPV was received before four years of age, no additional dose is required.

Rubeola (Red Measles): Upon entry into kindergarten two doses of measles containing vaccine are required. The first dose shall be administered on or after the first birthday.

Rubella (German Measles): One dose on or after the first birthday is required.

Mumps: One dose on or after the first birthday is required.

Haemophilus Influenzae Type B: Children 15 months of age through four years of age must have one dose of HibCV, unless a primary series and booster have been completed.

Hepatitis B: Three doses of hepatitis B vaccine are required for the following grades for the following school years:

  • 2004-2005 for kindergarten through fifth grade and seventh through tenth grade;
  • 2005-2006 for kindergarten through eleventh grade;
  • thereafter, beginning in the school year 2006-2007, for all students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. 

Varicella (Chicken Pox): Proof of previous varicella disease or one dose of varicella vaccine received on or after the first birthday is required for the following grades for the following school years:

  • 2004-2005 for kindergarten through fourth grade and seventh through tenth grade;
  • 2005-2006 for kindergarten through fifth grade and seventh through eleventh grade;
  • thereafter, beginning in the school year 2006-2007, all students in grades kindergarten
    through twelfth grade shall have one dose. Two doses are required if the child was thirteen years old or older at the time the first dose of varicella vaccine was received.

*Students entering the early childhood and pre-kindergarten programs must have age-appropriate vaccination in accordance with the Texas Department of Health Immunization Schedule.
