16-year Longview ISD custodial worker William Dickerson has been named Employee of the Year on March 12 by ABM Company (formerly GCA Services).

ABM Company spokesman Jim Schubiger presented Dickerson with a $100 gift card, a certificate and other prizes March 12th during a special staff meeting.

The Dallas-based company handles janitorial services throughout the district.

Schubiger said William has worked in the District for a little over 16 years. He was “grandfathered in” with ABM under GCA when the company took over in July 2014.

“William worked the evening shift as Lead Custodian for two years prior to becoming the Lead Day Shift custodian at the Education Support Center,” he said. “William continually demonstrates the qualities we look for when considering candidates for Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year.”

Schubiger described the ESC facility as a ‘high profile’ location “with individuals expecting excellence in cleaning standards, as do those elsewhere district-wide.”

“Mr. Dickerson and his team strives to provide the level of clean which ABM and LISD require,” he said. “His building inspections always score high marks, as does his Report Card issued by administrative personnel.

“We are very pleased to have William on our Team within ABM and LISD,” Schubiger added.

Superintendent Dr. James Wilcox said he was excited for William, “but not surprised.”

“The administration is grateful for the tireless work and professional care all our custodial staff provides the students and staff in our care,” he said. “While he may be an ABM/GCA employee,

William is a valued member of the Longview ISD family, and we are proud of his accomplishment.”
