Gaming Science & Digital Arts Magnet Program

The Gaming Science and Digital Arts program, offered exclusively at our three magnet campuses—Bailey ElementaryForest Park Middle School, and LEAD High School—is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to explore the worlds of technology, creativity, and digital innovation starting as early as elementary school.

This magnet program introduces students to game development, esports, digital media, animation, video/audio production, coding, virtual reality, and AI through hands-on, project-based learning. With access to industry-grade tools like Unreal EngineAdobe Creative SuiteClassVRScratch, and Figma, students learn how to turn ideas into interactive experiences—blending art, design, and technology every step of the way.

Each campus offers developmentally appropriate learning:

Bailey Elementary sparks curiosity with creative play, basic coding, digital storytelling, and collaborative design.

Forest Park Middle School deepens skills through multimedia projects, 3D modeling, beginner game engines, and esports teams.

LEAD Academy takes students to the next level—preparing portfolios, entering competitions, broadcasting live events, and building real games and digital campaigns for college and career readiness.

As part of the Gaming Science and Digital Arts program, students have the chance to showcase their talents through two exciting and competitive outlets—each offering unique benefits and real-world relevance.

Esports – Competitive Gaming & Digital Broadcast

Esports at Longview ISD is all about strategy, teamwork, and innovation. Students join teams and compete in official leagues while also learning how to manage the digital production side of events. Focus areas include:

  • Competitive Gaming – Featuring titles like Rocket LeagueSmash Bros.Valorant, and Fortnite

  • Team Strategy & Communication – Building leadership and collaboration skills

  • Shoutcasting & Streaming – Broadcasting gameplay with live commentary

SkillsUSA provides a platform for students to demonstrate what they’ve learned in CTE pathways through industry-aligned competitions judged by professionals. Areas of focus include:

  • Game Development – Level design, mechanics, scripting, and visual aesthetics

  • Digital Media – Content creation, multimedia storytelling, and editing

  • Video Production – Directing, shooting, and post-production workflows

  • Audio Production – Podcasting, mixing, and soundtracking

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Smart applications, automation, and problem-solving using AI tools

  • Graphic Design & Animation – Digital art, branding, motion graphics, and storytelling
