Longview High School's Class of 2020 Valedictorian is Fatima Akilo, and Salutatorian is Emily Mendenhall.
Fatima will attend Rice University. Emily will attend the University of Texas at Austin.
With some offers still pending, scholarships total $2,914,670 for nearly 600 seniors, according to Kay Ray, Longview High School’s coordinator of college scholarships and financial aid.

GRADUATION PLANS
With the Coronavirus having affected every facet of life within recent months, Longview ISD has drawn up two different options for seniors to have a partial graduation experience. With the Coronavirus having affected every facet of life within the recent months, Longview ISD plans on doing our utmost best to see that Lobo seniors walk across the stage and have their big moment. To that end, we want to congratulate all of our seniors for making it through this long, arduous journey.
Plan A: Individual ceremonies for students/families
Beginning May 12 through May 15, students and parents may come to Longview High School to experience an individual graduation ceremony. The ceremony will be filmed and combined with films of other commencement events for students to keep. A copy of this film will be given to each graduating senior.
- This ceremony will be conducted at LOBO stadium or in the LOBO breezeway if it rains.
- The times will be 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Students should wear caps and gowns.
- Social distancing will be enforced. Students should come to their individual ceremony with only their family members.
- All students and parents should R.S.V.P to schedule a day and time for their individual graduation experience. Please call 903.663.1301 to reserve a time.
Those who participate in the individual ceremonies during the week of May 15 will done alphabetically according to the following schedule:
- Tuesday, May 12 A—Gay
- Wednesday, May 13 George—Mathis
- Thursday, May 14 Maturino—Still
- Friday, May 15 Stone—Zarate
Plan B - Formal Graduation Ceremonies
Seniors may participate in a graduation ceremony at Lobo Field on the first week of June. Several different ceremonies will be scheduled so that social distancing can be maintained. Due to guidelines from state authorities, we have to move formal outside ceremonies to after June 1. Longview High administrators will release more information on this ceremony by May 19.
