As the school year winds down and summertime draws near, Longview ISD is hosting various athletic camps to help young Lobos be the best they can be.

The Lobo Summer Strength & Conditioning program for all LISD students in grades 7th-12th is set for June 7 through July 29 at Lobo Stadium. Workout days are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with male athletes working out at 8 a.m. and female athletes at 10 a.m.. Meals will be provided, and there is no cost for the program.

Students must provide personal hydration, as well as the proper workout attire of shorts, T-shirt, and footwear (cross trainers and turf cleats are recommended).

The LISD Food Service Department will provide meals after the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. workouts.

Coach John King said these summer workouts are an excellent way for younger athletes to help develop a sense of being part of the Lobo Athletic program.

'A lot of the great Lobo multisport athletes you see on the varsity level, who eventually end up playing collegiately, got their start as younger students going through drills during our summer camps,' he said.

Students must provide the proper workout attire of shorts, T-shirt, and footwear (cross trainers and cleats are recommended). The LISD Food Service Department will provide breakfast and lunch, and all participants will receive an official camp t-shirt.

Coach King said all participants will receive coaching on fundamentals, skills, and techniques, in addition to instruction on weight training and nutritional guidance.

'They'll also learn about the Lobo philosophy and attitude,' said Coach King. 'It's a winning attitude that is a huge part of everything our student-athletes have accomplished both on and off the field of play.'
