In accordance with United States Code (U.S.C.) Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 70, Subchapter VIII, Part C, Section 7846, and Public Law (P.L.) 114-95, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 8306, an entity planning to submit a federal grant application must afford a reasonable opportunity for public comment on the application before it is submitted.
Longview ISD hereby gives notice to the public that it intends to file the following applications and request awarded amounts for federal grant funds with the Texas Education Agency for the school year 2021-22. LISD welcomes comments or questions concerning any of these grants, and request that any comments or questions be submitted by July 1, 2021.
- CRRSA ESSER II ($8,753,791) provides funding to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus.
- ARP Act, ESSER III ($19,659,772) assists school districts safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on students through evidence-based interventions, after-school and summer enrichment programs.
- IDEA-B Formula ($1,719,958) provides supplemental resources to help school districts ensure that eligible students (ages 3-21) with disabilities are provided with a free appropriate public education as required by federal statute.
- IDEA-B Preschool ($31,183) provides supplemental resources to help school districts to ensure that eligible students (ages 3-5) with disabilities are provided with a free appropriate public education as required by federal statute.
- IDEA-B Discretionary Deaf ($65,840) helps ensure that eligible students with disabilities (ages 3-21) are provided with a free appropriate education as required by federal statute.
- Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century/Perkins ($127,548) ensures all students can benefit from high-quality career and technical education (CTE) programs that prepare them for high-skill, high-wage employment.
- Title I, Part A ($2,575,196) provides supplemental resources to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families acquire the knowledge and skills in the state content standards and to meet the state student performance standards.
- Title I, Part D, Subpart 2 ($83,443) supports programs to improve the educational services to children residing in facilities for delinquent children (Gregg County JDC) to acquire the knowledge and skills in the state content standards and state student performance standards.
- Title II, Part A ($419,041) increases student achievement through improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in classrooms and highly qualified principals in schools.
- Title III, Part A ELA ($177,043) develops programs for limited English proficient students to attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment, and meet the state content standards and student achievement standards.
- Title IV, Part A ($189,454) improves the academic achievement of all students by all students by providing all students with access to well-rounded education, improving school conditions for students learning, and improving the use of technology in order to enhance academic outcomes and digital literacy of students.
Public comments regarding Longview ISD applications for the grants are to be submitted before the public comment end date.
