The first of several parent meetings about the new East Texas Montessori Prep Academy is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 16 at Bramlette Elementary, 111 Tupelo Drive.
Director of Early Childhood Services Dr. Jacqueline Burnett, who will serve as campus principal, said the goal of the meeting is to answer questions from parents of Pre-Kindergarten students about the new facility.
Work remains on-schedule near the corner of U.S. 259 and U.S. 80, where the new Pre-K/Kindergarten school is scheduled to open in August 2017. The 150,000 square-foot campus that will hold upwards of 1,400 students in more than 60 classrooms.
Longview ISD uses Montessori education for Head Start, pre-K and kindergarten students districtwide except at Hudson PEP and Johnston-McQueen elementary schools. The Montessori program allows children to work and learn at their own pace and encourages individualized instruction.

Round-Up set for June 13

LISD will hold its Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round Up for the 2017-2018 School Year on from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 13 at the Student Development Center, 500 N. Third Street, Longview.
Parents should bring a photo ID, the student's birth certificate and Social Security card; current shot records; proof of address such as an electric bill, water bill or lease. Parents will also need to bring two recent paycheck stubs for Pre-K enrollment.
