Longview ISD students had to switch buses in mid-route Tuesday morning, when the bus No. 37 was involved in a collision with another vehicle at about 7:44 a.m. on Highway 259, near Bar K Ranch.

No students were injured and the vehicle suffered only minor damage. The bus driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way, and the eight children from age 12 to 16 were transported to their campuses via another bus and driver.

According to DPS Sgt. Jean Dark, the crash occurred when the bus driver failed to yield the right of way and pulled off of a rural road onto Highway 259, striking a vehicle. The car spun around and came to a stop in the center median. The driver of the car was treated at the scene.
