Hudson PEP Elementary Assistant Principal Mrs. Christi Coleman has been named 2021 Region VII Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).
Mrs. Coleman is in her 26th year in education and truly has a heart for her students and colleagues. As a teacher, she taught on the elementary and junior high level, as well as special education.
'This award is truly a testament to the hard work and dedication of the professionals that surround me, along with the great things that are taking place to help students at Hudson PEP,' she said. 'I am incredibly grateful to work with students and staff who inspire me and I am proud to be part of the Hudson PEP family.'
Principal Mrs. Sue Wilson said she is proud to have Mrs. Coleman on the campus leadership team.
'Christi Coleman is a humble servant-leader and is respected by both me and the staff,' she said. 'Her expertise is a curriculum specialist where she meets and works with teachers to ensure the lessons are aligned with the state standards and rigorous in content.'
But it's not just academic that Christi excels at, Mrs. Wilson added, 'but she also works with students to instill positive behavior choices and is a liaison with parents to communicate the expectations for learning and the Hudson PEP program.'

Mrs. Coleman will be celebrated this summer at an awards dinner in Austin, with the rest of the TEPSA Region Assistant Principals of the Year honorees. One of these educators will be selected as the 2021 National Assistant Principal of the Year for Texas.
Each TEPSA region selects a Region Assistant Principal of the Year in recognition of the exceptional leadership of the people responsible for the day-to-day operations of schools.
The peer-based award recognizes assistant principals for their commitment to student learning as evidenced by exceptional school leadership.
Superintendent Dr. James Wilcox said the most important aspect of this award is that Mrs. Coleman was selected by her colleagues.
'To be singled out for recognition in your field is always an honor, but the honor is all the greater when it comes from your peers,' he said. 'Mrs. Christi Coleman's reputation as an educator and administrator is well known to us in Longview ISD, but this honor proves that her skills, expertise, and excellence is known across our region and state.'
With a Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership from Sam Houston State University and a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University, Mrs. Coleman has earned certifications in Art, Special Education, Elementary Education, as well as her Texas Principal's Certification.
Mrs. Coleman and her husband Craig have two children, Campbell and Carliece. She and her husband enjoy taking long rides on their motorcycles.

TEPSA, whose hallmark is educational leaders learning with and from each other, has served Texas PK-8 school leaders since 1917.
Member-owned and member-governed, TEPSA has more than 5,900 members who direct the activities of more than 3 million PreK-8 school children.
