The board was presented the results of the survey during their special meeting June 24th. As the survey has since expired, the links have been removed from this article.

Following a request from the Texas Education Agency to consider alternate calendars for the fall semester, Longview Independent School District is asking our parents and staff which starting date they prefer for the 2020-21 school year.

If you are a parent of a Longview ISD student, please click here to take the survey (click aquí para Español).

If you are a current Longview ISD staff member, please click here to take the survey.

  • Option 1 is to keep the current calendar (approved March 18th by the board), with a start date of Aug. 17th.

  • Option 2 is a hybrid model with a slightly earlier start on Aug. 10th, and a longer mid-term break December-January.

  • Option 3 is a suggestion from the TEA to start school on Aug. 3rd, with school breaks scheduled throughout the year.

The survey closes on Tuesday, June 23rd. Any formal changes to the 2020-2021 calendar will be presented to our Board of Trustees for additional discussion and review in a public meeting before they are adopted.

Longview ISD will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and follow guidance from the Texas Education Agency, Gov. Greg Abbott, and local officials. Please keep in mind that any information related to the 2020-2021 calendar is subject to change, and we will keep you informed on our district website, social media, and through all-calls/emails.
