Thanks to The Brandon Goyne Foundation and Wimbledon Health Partners for sponsoring free EKG tests for freshman Lobo athletes on Aug. 9 at the athletic training room.

Goyne, a college baseball player from East Texas, died suddenly in 2013 from Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia, a condition undetected by a standard physical and only discoverable by EKG tests.

At $15 a test with 1,100 student athletes in the school district, the cost can skyrocket quickly but that's where foundations like the Goyne's come into play.

'It's something we hope to do every year,' said LHS Athletic Director John King. 'We hope to offer it to every student athlete in Longview ISD. There is a cost to it but through donations and these wonderful foundations, we hope to offset that cost. If you can save one life, there's no cost that's not worth it.'
