The Longview Rotary Club honored J.L. Everhart Kindergarten teacher Kori Thompson and Longview High senior Keira Enyon during their regular meeting Tuesday, Feb. 28 at First Baptist Church.

Thompson and Enyon were recognized as the February 2017 Teacher of the Month and Student of the Month for excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

'Both of these individuals represent the best and brightest of the education community in Longview,' said Rotary Club member Dietrich Johnson. 'We are glad to celebrate their accomplishments in making our community stronger through education.'

Thompson has worked for Longview ISD since 2012 and has been a teacher for 11 years.

'Mrs. Thompson is a perfect example of the quality education professionals we have on our campus,' said Everhart Principal Arthur Brown. 'All of us (at Everhart) are happy to see her recognized for her professionalism, compassion, and her quality as a teacher.'

Enyon is an honors student and a standout multisport athlete for the Lady Lobos.

'Keira is one of the many students we have (at Longview High) that we're going to hate to lose to graduation, but are going to be so excited to see what she accomplishes in her life,' said LHS Principal James Brewer. 'We appreciate organizations like the Rotary Club for celebrating the kind of traits in our students that we try to cultivate on our campus.'

The Longview Rotary Club recognizes a local teacher and student each month during regular luncheon meetings.
