On April 13, officials from Raise Your Hand Texas, a nonpartisan education public policy organization based in Austin, will be in Longview to talk to parents, teachers, and local education stakeholders about the future of education in our state.

The Raise Your Hand Texas advocacy team will host 'listening circles' at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. April 13 in the LISD administration building, 1301 East Young Street, to have an open discussion about the state accountability system.

If you wish to participate, please pre-register here.

Deann-Lee-mugMrs. Deann Lee, Regional Director for Advocacy and Outreach for Raise Your Hand Texas, said the organization is working to meet 10,000 Texans in small and large group settings to 'gather feedback on accountability topics and invite people to join us in the push for legislative change.'

'What makes a school great? What are parents really looking for in a high-quality school? What do teachers think is most important? What do students want and need?' she said. 'So much has changed about what we know are the best ways to learn, test, and measure all that goes into a world-class education system. Raise Your Hand Texas believes it’s time for us to adopt an accountability system that reflects ALL that goes into creating a high-quality public school campus--not just scores from one test on one day.'
