Foster Middle School's Math & Science team finished in the top five of Texas at the TMSCA meet April 21 in San Antonio, with several students earning gold in individual competition.

"All twenty five students who qualified to go to the state competition represented Foster superbly," said Christi Shobert, 6th Grade Gifted & Talented teacher. "The work ethic and dedication of these students is second to none."

Ranked 5th overall out of 77 schools in Class 6A (the largest classification in the state of Texas), Foster students took top honors in several events.

With a perfect score in the 8th Grade General Math category, Aditya Jagarlamudi was named Co-Champion.

6th Grader Aman Saridena earned 1st place in both Number Sense and Calculator events, and the Foster Calculator Team of Aditya Jagarlamudi, Rachna Eular, Natalie Holder, and Aman Saridena brought home the gold as well!

Principal John York praised the hard work of the students, their parents, as well as teachers Christi Shobert, Diana Howard, Debi Lindeken, Chris Simpson, and LaShundra Rodgers for making this success possible.

"You just can't say enough about the job these young people have done," he added. "Foster Middle School is proud of them, and we appreciate the time and energy of our wonderful parents and staff."

Superintendent Dr. James Wilcox echoed the sentiment, recognizing the students, staff, and parents "who make it all possible."

"Behind every ribbon, trophy, or award these hard-working students earn, are tireless educators and family members, so many people committing of their time and abilities to help these students reach these heights," he added.
