Lobos to host 7-on-7 football in June

Thu May 10, 2018

Are you ready for some (touch) football?!

Lobo Stadium will host a six-team 7-on-7 football league Monday nights during the month of June.

Joining two Lobo squads are teams from Pine Tree, Hallsville, New Diana, and Tatum.

Each Monday, the teams will play two or three games of about 30 minutes each, starting at 6 p.m. June 4th.

7-on-7 football rules require players being "downed" by two-hand touch, and the games mainly involve skill players.

However, on June 11 and 25 there will challenges and competition for linemen. The challenges involve contests such as tire flipping, tug of war, sled blocking and relay races.

Longview has been involved with this league since 2006 and has hosted the competition for the last several years.

Athletic Director John King and other Lobo coaches will be on hand to help facilitate the event at Lobo Stadium, but teams are wholly organized and led by community volunteers.
