2021 LIFT Amendments

The Longview Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a series of amendments to the Longview Incentive For Teachers (LIFT) program during their regular meeting Monday, Nov. 8th.

While the Texas Education Agency did not assign campus ratings or academic distinction designations to schools across the state, enough data is available to calculate academic distinction designations using the state model and formulas for the 2020-21 school year.

The 2020-21 school year’s data was more available and “normal” than the preceding year. However, the data availability still had certain limits since the Texas Education Agency opted not to rate or assign academic distinctions to schools across Texas.

Fortunately, Longview ISD has an incredibly talented team, that is able to calculate academic distinctions designations using the state model and formulas. As such, we were able to determine academic distinction designations for each campus except for one distinction that was not calculable due to lack of data, top 25%: student progress.

Therefore, we recommend an amendment to include a slightly modified academic distinction designation model for the 2020-21 school year.

In addition, we recommend an amendment to add Kindergarten Teachers to the LIFT Performance Award Model for the 2020-21 school year.

This group is not identified to earn LIFT Performance Award Model monies in the current guidelines, yet we have the academic data to support their inclusion.

Appeals will be addressed on a case by case basis and addressed quickly, not by formal application per the current guidelines.
