The Greater East Texas College Night will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at Maude Cobb Activity Center. Admission is free.
Attending the fair is an excellent opportunity for students and parents to visit with representatives from many colleges, universities, and technical/vocational schools in one convenient location. Students and parents can get answers to questions concerning post-secondary education and career plans. Financial aid and scholarship information will also be available.
College Night is for ALL high school students whether they are college bound or undecided.
Texas college fairs have completely automated this fall. Prior to attending, students should preregister at GoToCollegeFairs.com. Once on the site, select "Register Now." Select Texas, then select TACRAO association option(s), and Register Now. Students should complete the online form and print their specific barcode or save it to their handheld device. Students should then take that barcode to the college fair. By scanning the barcode, college and university representatives can quickly add students to institutions' prospective student lists.Students may preregister using the computers in the LHS College and Career Center.
Longview High School is providing transportation for all students who want to attend, but students must register for transportation by Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the College and Career Center. Please contact Kay Ray at (903) 663-7129 or Tierenay Beall at (903) 663-7323.
Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Beall will be at the college fair. LHS students should see them at the door for a proof of attendance card before they visit the college booths and list of questions to ask the college representatives. At the end of the evening, students should give their completed cards to Mrs. Ray or Mrs. Beall before they leave to be entered into a drawing for prizes.
