As the school year winds down and summertime draws near, Longview ISD is hosting various athletic camps to help young Lobos be the best they can be.

Summer camps available to LISD athletes

The Lobo Summer Strength & Conditioning program for all LISD students in grades 6-12 will run from June 6-July 28. Workout days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Students must provide the proper workout attire of shorts, T-shirt and footwear (cross trainers and cleats are recommended). The LISD Food Service Department will provide meals after the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. workouts. There is no cost.

Basketball & Volleyball
Lady Lobo Basketball Camp is set for June 13-16 at Lobo Coliseum and will run in conjunction with Lady Lobo Volleyball Camp.

Camps are for incoming grades 3-9. Cost to attend both camps is $75. Cost for one camp is $50.

Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m., followed by basketball until noon. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by volleyball until 4 p.m.

Basketball will be under the direction of Keith Smith, and basketball will be directed by Chaka Jackson.

Camp fees are due by Friday, June 10.

Softball
Lady Lobo skills camp is set for June 6-9 at the Longview High School softball field and the indoor hitting facility.

Cost for the camp is $40 per player ($30 for additional siblings).

Times are 8:30-11:30 a.m. for students entering grades 3-5 and 12:30-3:30 p.m. for students entering grades 6-9.

Athletes should bring water bottle, glove, cleats, tennis shoes and any other equipment. No metal cleats can be worn indoors.

Football
Are you looking to stand out on special teams? Lobo Stadium will be the host site for a kicker/punter camp by Trinity Kicking May 24-27.

The camp is open to the first 10 kickers and 10 punters that register and pay for their spots. Registration is $150 per kid. Kickers and punters cannot do both. They must choose one discipline. The camp will consist of two kicking/punting sessions (three hours each) with a day off in between.

Video footage will be provided of all drill work and high school coaches are encouraged to attend the training session. Trinity Kicking will also provide free consultation to campers year-round.

Camps are 5-8 p.m. May 24 (kickers), 5-8 p.m. May 25 (punters) and 4-10 p.m. May 27 (kickers and punters).
