In addition to his duties as a grant writer, Brunson provides consultation services for the dual-credit and ACT-TSI programs.

Brunson retired Dec. 18, 2015 and was headmaster for the Longview Global High that is being phased out for the Early College High School program.

Deputy Superintendent Andrea Mayo said Brunson will be assisting in the transition of the new director, in addition to his other contract duties.

"But he's not still doing his old job," she said. "Those duties have been taken on by other individuals as directed by (LHS Principal) James Brewer."

Hired on Feb. 2, Brunson's contract lasts until June 3 and he is paid $600 per day. Mayo said Brunson works for the district part-time, approximately 2-3 days a week "as needed."

A new director for the Early College High School is expected to be considered for hire by board members at the May regular meeting.
