One Longview school is hosting an event this weekend to help spread a positive message of hope for the community.

JL Everhart 'Hope For Longview' set for Saturday

Mon Apr 25, 2016
JL Everhart's Elementary's 5th Grade CIS Design for Change students are hosting "Hope For Longview" from 10am-2pm Saturday.

A community project designed to combat some of the recent crime and violence in the area, Hope For Longview's family-friendly atmosphere will feature carnival/backyard games, entertainment (including a visit from Storybook Parties princesses!), and vendors from around the community who provide youth and family services.

Event coordinator Bethany Walker said the goal is to "provide safe family fun while educating the community on the resources available to help youth and families and keep them from falling into the trap of violent crime."

"Our biggest current need is donation and sponsorship to cover the cost of games, signs, and decorations to really make this event stand out," she said. "All donations/sponsorships will be recognized at the event."
