Longview ISD Superintendent Dr. James Wilcox has named new principals at Johnston-McQueen Elementary and the new Montessori campus.

Scott Fisher will be taking over for Denise Frederick as Principal at Johnston-McQueen, while LaTosha Johnson joins the East Texas Montessori Prep Academy as an Assistant Principal.

Scott Fisher

Fisher, currently on staff with the district as a Human Resources recruiter, has previously served as an assistant principal and principal in the Maypearl, Henderson, and Forney Independent School Districts. He replaces Frederick who is retiring to spend more time with family.

Wilcox said that Fisher brings a wealth of experience and abilities to the role, and that he expects "great things to come at Johnston-McQueen Elementary."

"You never can replace a Principal like Denise Frederick, with the tremendous job she's done at that campus," he said. "But we believe Scott Fisher will provide a seamless transition for students and staff. He is the ideal candidate to build upon Mrs. Frederick's excellent leadership, and also take Johnston-McQueen to the next level."

LaTosha Johnson

Johnson, currently on staff at Ned E. Williams Elementary, has been with Longview ISD since 2002. In addition to Ned E. Williams, she worked at the former G.K. Foster Elementary campus as a Montessori instructor. She joins LISD Director of Early Childhood Dr. Jacqueline Burnett, who will serve as campus principal.

"I am elated to be chosen," she said. "I will work diligently to serve all students, parents, and the community. I look forward to a great 2017-2018 school year."

Ned E. Williams Principal Dr. Cynthia Wise said she is thrilled for Johnson's opportunity.

"I've watched LaTosha grow from a classroom leader to now becoming an administrator. Throughout the years she has served as a coach, team leader, and mentor working with novice and experienced teachers. She mentors teachers to be effective inside and outside of the classroom," she said. "There is not a task that I've asked LaTosha to complete that was not completed with expertise and professionalism. She is a team player and sets student achievement as her top priority."
