- An Evening w/ Coach Brad McCoy
- 10/29/2013, 7:00 PM
- Mickey Melton Performing Arts Center
The Longview ISD Foundation. is proud to announce that it is hosting "An Evening with Coach Brad McCoy: Gaining the Home Field Advantage in Life," on Tuesday, October 29, in the Mickey Melton Performing Arts Center auditorium at 7:00 PM followed by a meet and greet/book signing.
Brad McCoy, father of NFL quarterback Colt McCoy, former winning high school coach, author of books on successful parenting, life strategies, and leadership, and motivational speaker for the Flippen Group, will speak about forming successful teams, whether those teams are families, churches, schools, or companies. He will also share his and his wife's parenting strategies for teaching children to be leaders and successful adults. One his basic tenets is that parents should prepare the children for the path ahead of them rather than preparing the path for the child. Coach McCoy has a number of anecdotes to tell about his role as a parent as he has moved from caretaker of his sons, to cop and counselor as they grew to become teenagers, to consultant to his now adult sons. He also has poignant stories to tell about how to help children of all ages find a new door to open when the one they had counted on closes as it did when Colt, Brad's oldest son and quarterback for the University of Texas Longhorns, went down to injury during the 2009 National Championship game against Alabama in the Rose Bowl. As Coach McCoy says, "Learning to accept that we don't always get what we have worked for and counted on is something we all must learn. The key is having a plan to move forward to success." The Foundation believes Coach McCoy has much to offer the citizens of Longview with his tips on leadership, becoming a leader, parenting, and setting and achieving goals for people of all ages.
The Foundation will be selling tickets to the event beginning September 16 for $20.00 each and invites students, parents, community leaders, and businessmen and women to join the Foundation to learn how to become a better leader of a successful team and, as a result, better people who can perform better and achieve more.
